Polisi Menangkap 3 Tersangka Baru dalam Kasus Judi Online Komdigi, Jumlah Totalnya Menjadi 14 Orang

Subdit Jatanras (Economic and Special Crimes Subdivision) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Ditreskrimum) has arrested three new suspects in the case of unblocking online gambling sites, which reportedly involved employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology (Komdigi). With these latest arrests, the total number of suspects in the case has reached 14.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigations

• Date: Saturday, November 2, 2024.

• Total Suspects: 14 individuals.

• Statement: Kombes Wira Tri Satya Putra, Director of Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, stated that they have apprehended 14 suspects and will continue to develop the case. Steps are being taken to seize the assets acquired through the illegal activity.

Wira emphasized, “We will continue to develop this case and confiscate all assets belonging to the suspects.”

Ministry’s Response

• Minister’s Directive: Meutya Hafid, the Minister of Communication and Digital Technology (Menkomdigi), asserted that internal cleansing measures would be carried out following the arrest of one of her ministry’s employees in the online gambling case.

• Integrity Pact: A pact has been established to ensure that all Komdigi personnel are committed to combating online gambling.

• Presidential Order: The actions align with President Prabowo’s directive to eradicate online gambling.

Meutya Hafid mentioned, “This is an opportunity for internal cleansing as we urge all members to uphold the integrity pact in the fight against online gambling.”

Previous Arrests and Misuse of Authority

• Earlier Arrests: Prior to this development, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police had detained 11 individuals, including 10 Komdigi officials and one civilian, in connection with the case.

• Abuse of Power: The suspects, who were entrusted with the authority to block gambling sites, allegedly received payments to unblock around a thousand online gambling websites.

Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, the Police Public Relations Head, disclosed that the suspects admitted to receiving approximately Rp 8.5 million for each site they facilitated.

Despite having full authorization for blocking access, the Komdigi employees misused their power by selectively permitting certain sites to operate without restrictions.

Through ongoing investigations and a commitment to upholding integrity, the authorities aim to address the issue of online gambling and hold accountable those who exploit their positions for illicit gains.
